Overall shaft length

(front of the movement to the tip of the shaft)

The threaded length is measured from the face of the clock movement to the tip of the large threaded shaft that the mounting nut goes on. The dial thickness is the recommended thickness of the clock face. It is slightly thinner that the threaded length so that there is room for the mounting nut. The overall shaft length is measured from the face of the movement to the tip of the hand shaft.

How to install a battery operated quartz clock movement. Clock parts

Dial thickness

(about 1/16” shorter than threaded length)

Quartz Breakaway Pendulum

This is the pendulum that we include with all of our pendulum movements. Just snap off the rod at the length you need and slide the bob onto the bottom of it. The top hook may look different depending on what movement you purchase.

Chiming movement instructions:

Install a fresh battery. Advance the setting knob on the back of the movement until you hear the chime. Count the number of chimes and press the hour hand on the movement pointing to the number of chimes you heard. Place the minute hand on the movement pointing to the #12 on the face, attach the nut to hold the minute hand on. When you manually advance the hands the movement will not chime the quarters, only the hour.  To check the chime, advance the minute hand until you reach the 5 minutes before the hour point. Let the movement run until you hear the chime. If the movement starts to chime before or after the hand reaches the 12 on the face use the chime adjustment screw located near the top of the movement on the back. If the chime starts too early turn the screw in the + direction. Each mark represents one minute of adjustment. If the minute hand has past the 12 when the chime starts, turn the adjustment screw in the — (minus) direction.

chiming movements.

If the movement chimes the wrong hour, remove the hands and put them back on, pointing to the hour the movement chimed.

Daylight savings time: Remove the battery, use the setter on the back of the movement to move the hands to the new time. Place the battery back inside the movement. It may take up to one hour for the chimes to catch up to the new time so don’t be concerned if the movement does not chime correctly right away.
