Some notes regarding suspension spring material. Measuring the thickness is usually not an accurate way of determining
your suspension spring requirement. It is best to identify your clock in the
400 day repair guide. This book also has drawings of the suspension units
after assembly. This is a great help as the location of the fork on the
spring is critical to the proper function of the clock. Springs are 5-1/2”
long. Here is a brief guide of the most popular
suspension spring usage: .0032 Full size Kieninger & Oberfield,
Full size Kundo .0023 Miniature K & O & miniature
Kundo .0023 Schatz “53” on back-plate (miniature) .0040 Schatz with “49” on the back-plate .0024 Schatz 1000 day, “54” stamped on the
